Aziza Kadyri
Kiyori Staircase
Procession / Descent (2025)
Mixed-media suspended soft sculptures and textiles.
Curatorial Analysis
Procession / Descent occupies AKI's transition zones and stairwells as a series of suspended nomad architectures — soft sculptures that move with the air currents of the building, tracing the invisible paths of migration and memory. Reworking vintage fabrics from Japan and Uzbekistan with AI-generated patterns, the work transforms the building's circulation spaces into a living archive of diasporic identity.
On the Core Concept
The suspended textiles act as nomad architectures within AKI's transition zones. They represent the multi-layered identity of the modern global citizen, weaving together different topographies and historical periods.
Artist Voice
"As a migrant navigating a fractured sense of self, I use technology as a tool for critical fabulation. Traditional handcraft interwoven with AI printing creates a rhythm between past memory and digital futurism."
On GANBARU / REI
The painstaking process of embroidery combined with advanced computational layout honors traditional female labor and craft heritage (Rei) while actively fighting against the erasure of these histories in the digital age (Ganbaru).
Artist Portrait

"Traditional handcraft interwoven with AI printing creates a rhythm between past memory and digital futurism — a bridge across fractured geographies and generations."
